Amazon filed a WARN notice with Florida regulators disclosing plans to lay off approximately 616 employees at its Homestead logistics facility beginning in early July through the end of September, as the company temporarily closes the warehouse for a building conversion it says will create long-term benefits for employees and customers. More than 300 affected employees have already accepted transfers to other facilities in Miami-Dade County, and Amazon is offering relocation bonuses to workers who transfer more than 50 miles away. The company plans to reopen the facility in mid-to-late 2028 and expects to employ approximately 1,000 people there when it does, up from the 300-person minimum it was contractually required to maintain when it purchased the property.
