A counterfeit TikTok Shop site set off more than 320,000 phishing blocks from May through September, or 19% of every phishing block recorded worldwide in that span, according to data from the content blocker of VPN company Surfshark. Surfshark hasn’t published the site’s address, which remained its most-blocked phishing domain through October 20 with 18% of blocks. Phishing blocks overall jumped 524% between April and September, and because blocks per protected device climbed 83%, the jump can’t be explained only by more people using the tool. With Black Friday coming, TikTok Shop tells shoppers never to enter personal details anywhere but its verified site and to ignore links that send them off the platform.
