Nvidia is negotiating to guarantee billions of dollars of debt that AI cloud provider Nscale would use to build a 460-megawatt data center in West Virginia, which Anthropic has signed a $45B contract to rent, according to The Information. The guarantee would cover the building, not Nscale’s lease or its chips, so if Nscale missed its construction payments, Nvidia would pay, take over the site and help find a new owner and tenant. The deal isn’t signed yet, but it would let Nscale borrow at investment-grade rates for a campus it plans to fill with Nvidia’s Vera Rubin GPUs, even though Anthropic splits its computing across several chipmakers.
