Flipkart is testing a food-delivery service with more than 8,000 of its employees before a public launch that would take on Zomato and Swiggy, according to TechCrunch. The service, branded “Eat-in by Minutes,” sits in its own tab in Flipkart’s shopping app, lists restaurants from the government-backed ONDC network alongside ones Flipkart signed directly, and uses a dedicated fleet of Ekart riders to deliver the meals. Flipkart has told restaurants it plans to open the service to everyone before November and expand into five or six cities before the year ends, according to Sagar Daryani, who heads the National Restaurant Association of India. Daryani said Flipkart offered restaurants a base commission of roughly 10%, while Zomato and Swiggy typically take 20% to 25%.
