Anthropic cuts off enterprise customers’ discounts, which can run around 15% off list prices, once they use up the tokens in their contracts, leaving them to sign a new deal or pay more, according to Kevin McLaughlin at The Information. Big cloud providers like Amazon, Microsoft, and Google usually keep discounts in place for spending over the committed amount, and OpenAI gives customers the rest of the month plus another month to renegotiate before list prices kick in. OpenAI has been discounting more aggressively to win corporate buyers, and code-review company CodeRabbit now buys most of its models from OpenAI after relying mainly on Anthropic six months ago, though Anthropic still widened its revenue lead from May to August.
