Nvidia short sellers are down roughly $8 billion this year, more than on any other single stock, while most Wall Street investors who call AI a bubble are still holding off on big bets against it, according to Michelle Celarier at The Information. Steve Eisman, the investor portrayed in “The Big Short,” told her he isn’t ready to short AI yet, but a longer delay to OpenAI’s IPO could push him there, because he sees the whole chip supply chain leaning on two cash-burning companies, OpenAI and Anthropic. The bets that have paid off are narrower, with Oracle shorts up an estimated $2.3 billion as its stock fell 50% this year, while shorts on CoreWeave are down about $460 million, according to data from S3 Partners.
