BuyWander raised a $21 million Series A co-led by Madrona Venture Group and Inspired Capital to put more warehouses behind its auction model for retail returns. Returned and overstocked goods from Amazon, Target, Walmart and others open at $1 and sit in a seven-day auction, and whoever wins drives to a local fulfillment center to collect, which keeps shipping out of the price. Winning bids land around 75% off retail, and the company sold close to half a million items last month across eight warehouses to 50,000 active customers, a fifth of them resellers, according to GeekWire. Greg Greeley, who built Amazon Prime and later ran Airbnb’s homes business, joined the board. BuyWander has raised $28 million since 2023 and moved to Kent, Washington from Spokane last month.
