Google’s 3.3 million US ad account suspensions outnumber TV’s 86,800 brand advertisers 38 to 1 in a new TV industry deck

Google’s 3.3 million US advertiser account suspensions in 2025 outnumbered the 86,800 brands that advertised on national and local broadcast television by roughly 38 to 1, according to a deck the Video Advertising Bureau, the trade body for TV providers, circulated to media on September 15. The figures are Google’s own, from reports it published in April. VAB’s footnotes undercut its own comparison, though, because TV time is sold through negotiated deals while Google Ads takes self-serve signups, one bad operator can open many accounts, and most of the blocked ads never ran at all. The deck’s firmer point is that Google says its systems stopped more than 99% of violating ads before they served but discloses nothing about how long the rest stayed up or who saw them, according to PPC Land.
