Amazon developing AR glasses for consumers and delivery drivers

by | Sep 10, 2025 | Latest E-commerce News & Updates

Amazon is building two AR glasses products, one for delivery workers and another for consumers, in a direct challenge to Meta’s efforts in the space. The worker-focused version, codenamed Amelia, could launch as early as Q2 2026 with about 100,000 units, while the consumer model, codenamed Jayhawk, may arrive in late 2026 or early 2027 with a sleeker design and a full-color display in one eye. Both versions use display technology from Chinese firm Meta-Bounds, also used by companies like Meizu. The move signals Amazon’s push to compete in AR hardware, where Meta, Snap, Google, and Chinese firms like Xreal and Rokid are also racing to capture early adoption.
