xAI hired Andrew Milich and Jason Ginsberg from Cursor to lead efforts in improving its models' programming capabilities. The move follows the departure of several xAI co-founders and is coming as the company is seeking to catch up with rivals. Both executives previously served as heads of product for engineering and are reporting directly to Elon Musk. Musk says the company is expecting to exceed competitor performance by the middle of this year.
