The NSA is using Anthropic’s Mythos model despite the Pentagon officially designating Anthropic a supply chain risk, according to Axios

Two sources told Axios that the NSA is using Mythos Preview, Anthropic's restricted cybersecurity model, even as the Department of Defense, which oversees the NSA, continues to argue in court that using Anthropic's tools threatens U.S. national security. The NSA was reportedly among the unnamed organizations in Anthropic's restricted group of roughly 40 that received access to Mythos, with the model being used primarily to scan environments for exploitable security vulnerabilities. The revelation comes days after Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei met with White House chief of staff Susie Wiles and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent to discuss Mythos deployment within government, with both sides describing the meeting as productive and next steps expected to focus on how departments other than the Pentagon engage with the model.
