Shein is suing Temu again, this time for copyright infringement

by | Aug 20, 2024 | E-commerce News

In a civil complaint filed in Washington DC, Shein alleged that Temu encourages sellers to steal other brands' designs, and then prevents the sellers from removing the products from the platform, even when the seller admits to infringement. Shein also claims that Temu directed sellers to copy its products after a Temu employee stole sales data and pricing information about best selling items on Shein. Lastly Shein says Temu encouraged sellers to use copyrighted images of Shein products on their listings, ran ads that appeared to be from Shein but actually directed viewers to Temu's website, and paid influencers to make false claims about Shein goods. So back to court for these companies? Maybe. Maybe not. So far with previous lawsuits, they've found a way to work it out before the case went to trial.
