Sezzle launches a virtual card in Canada powered by Marqeta, bringing its BNPL service to in-store checkout for the first time

Sezzle launched a virtual card that lets shoppers add Sezzle to Apple Pay and Google Wallet for tap-to-pay purchases at physical retail locations, expanding its in-store presence beyond its existing online platform. Launch partners include SoftMoc, JD Sports Canada, Mastermind Toys, and QE Home, with more retailers planned across key categories. A 2025 survey of Canadian Sezzle users found that 74% said they were more likely to shop in-store if Sezzle was available, which the company is citing as evidence of demand for in-store BNPL expansion.
