Scale AI hired Google Cloud COO Francis deSouza as chief executive, filling the seat founder Alexandr Wang vacated in 2025 when he left for Meta after its $14.3 billion investment. DeSouza replaces interim CEO Jason Droege and leaves Google Cloud on August 7, where he also ran its security products business as president. Scale built itself on the data labeling and human evaluation behind model training, but the company said its applications arm, which sells to enterprise and government buyers including the Pentagon, should pass the data business within 18 months.
