President Trump said Google “wouldn’t have taken my call” during his first term but that “now, they kiss my ass,” at a midterm rally in Highland Heights, Kentucky, on October 17. Trump made the remark while talking about the government’s switch from Gulf of Mexico to Gulf of America, a name Google Maps adopted for US users in February 2025. He said the change wouldn’t have been possible in his first term, and he also cited renaming Lake Ontario as “Lake America” as proof of a more powerful second term.
