Pinterest is committing $4B to Amazon Web Services through 2031, the largest infrastructure deal in its history, to run the AI behind its personalized visual search and discovery. The large language and vision-language models powering those features will run on AWS Trainium chips, and Pinterest is widening its use of Graviton processors, which already handle about a third of its compute. The deal extends a partnership dating to 2010 and includes a shift from EC2 to a Kubernetes setup on Amazon EKS. Pinterest, which serves more than 600M monthly users and is leaning on AI to fend off TikTok and Meta, saw its stock rise close to 5% on the news.
