Oracle began another round of layoffs on Monday, with an email telling employees that the same day was their last and offering four weeks of base pay plus a week for every year worked, according to Business Insider. The company had around 141,000 employees going into this round, after cutting 21,000 roles, or 13% of its workforce, in the fiscal year that ended May 31. An internal document showed the planned reductions reaching double digits as a share of headcount on some teams. The payroll cuts come as Oracle takes on tens of billions in debt to build AI data centers, with first-quarter capital spending of $28.5B against $8.5B a year earlier.
