Oracle and OpenAI abandoned plans to expand a 600-megawatt artificial intelligence data center in Texas after negotiations stalled over financing. The companies decided to shift that capacity to a different location while their broader 4.5-gigawatt development plan remains on track. Meta stepped in to consider leasing the Abilene expansion site from Crusoe, a data center developer. Nvidia facilitated the discussions to ensure the facility utilizes its hardware instead of chips from competitor Advanced Micro Devices.
