OpenAI said it will comply with President Trump's executive order asking AI companies to give the federal government access to their models 30 days ahead of release. The order, which Trump signed Tuesday, is voluntary and sets up a benchmarking process to gauge a model's cyber capabilities and decide whether it should be designated a “covered frontier model.” George Osborne, OpenAI's head of countries and a former UK finance minister, told CNBC that democratic governments have a real role in how the technology gets deployed, and that the company had proactively pitched regulators on ways to track safety and security issues.
