OpenAI opened commercial operations in Brazil with a São Paulo team that will work with local companies, developers, universities, and government bodies. The company ranks Brazil among ChatGPT’s three biggest markets by weekly active users, says the user base has nearly doubled in a year, and puts daily message volume at roughly 215M. It also places Brazil second worldwide by developer count on its API and says Enterprise seats there have grown fivefold year over year. The launch comes with partnerships including free mobile AI training for the owners of very small businesses, run with Estímulo, and a memorandum of understanding with São Paulo’s city government. A RegLab study OpenAI paid for puts AI’s potential contribution to the Brazilian economy at nearly R$1T by 2030.
