OpenAI is forecasting that consumer subscribers to its $8-a-month ChatGPT Go tier will surge roughly 36 times to 112M this year while subscribers to its $20 ChatGPT Plus plan will fall 80% to about 9M, according to previously undisclosed projections obtained by The Information. The company expects ChatGPT Go subscribers to make up 92% of all paying subscribers by year end, up from 7% last year, with total consumer subscribers more than doubling to 122M this year and hitting 306M in 2030, while overall revenue more than doubles to $30B this year and reaches $284B in 2030. MoffettNathanson analyst Michael Nathanson told The Information that “with Alphabet in this game with Gemini, the majority of Gemini users are using it for free” and that “it's going to be a challenge to compete with Alphabet.”
