Nvidia is in talks to join a new Perplexity funding round worth billions of dollars that would value the AI search company above $30B, up 50% from where it sat a year ago, according to The Information. Perplexity’s annualized revenue has climbed past $750M from under $250M at the start of the year, helped by Perplexity Computer, an agent that runs computer tasks for office workers. Nvidia had already looked at paying Perplexity billions to license its technology as part of building out its own models and software, and it has been striking versions of that arrangement elsewhere. It paid $6B last week to license Poolside’s model development software while investing $1B in the company at a $12B pre-money valuation, and late last year it took technology and staff from Groq.
