A U.S. district court in Northern California dismissed a lawsuit filed by Abdullah Baig, WhatsApp’s former head of security, who alleged Meta ignored cybersecurity flaws he flagged five times to supervisors and once directly to Mark Zuckerberg, including claims that thousands of employees could access sensitive user data and that over 100,000 accounts were being hacked daily without remediation. Judge Laurel Beeler ruled on March 19 that the complaint lacked sufficient facts to show Baig had reported violations of SEC rules or regulations, the threshold required to move the case forward. Baig’s attorney said the legal fight is not over, stating the dismissal was on pleading grounds rather than merit and that they intend to refile, addressing those deficiencies.
