Meta will start using your off-platform purchases and activity to personalize Facebook and Instagram feeds, not just ads

by | Jun 9, 2026 | Latest E-commerce News & Updates

Meta is expanding how it uses the data other businesses already share about you, applying your off-platform activity like online purchases and the games you play to personalize your Facebook and Instagram feeds and its AI responses, not just the ads you see. Starting in July, buying a tent online could surface camping videos in your Reels feed, with Meta stressing it isn't collecting any new data, only putting existing data to wider use. The company is folding the various opt-outs into a single “Activity from other businesses” setting that turns off this personalization for ads, feeds, and AI responses, and the rollout is global except for several regions at launch, including the EU, UK, and Brazil.
