Meta unveiled VR Glasses at its Connect event, its first new VR device since the Quest 3 in 2024, priced at $1,299.99 with shipping set for spring 2027. The glasses weigh about a fifth as much as the Quest 3 because the Qualcomm chip, battery and storage sit in a separate puck that clips to a pocket and connects by cable, though that battery lasts three hours at most during video playback. Meta is pitching the device mainly as a home theater, and it’s the first VR headset to earn IMAX Enhanced certification. Disney+ will stream Marvel films like “Black Panther” in 3D, HBO Max, Peacock and Paramount+ are opening their 3D libraries, and James Cameron’s Lightstorm Vision is making new 3D titles for next year. Meta also signed the NBA, MLB and ESPN for immersive live sports.
