Meta president says Mark Zuckerberg moved his desk into the AI lab and is coding alongside Alexandr Wang and Nat Friedman

Meta President Dina Powell McCormick said at Semafor's World Economy Summit that Zuckerberg has physically moved his desk to sit alongside Meta Superintelligence Labs lead Alexandr Wang and former GitHub CEO Nat Friedman, and is “coding all day long” as Meta works to close the gap with OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic. McCormick said Zuckerberg feels he needs to understand AI at the coding level to ensure Meta's models are as strong as possible, with the Financial Times separately reporting he spends five to ten hours a week coding on AI projects and reviewing others' work. Meta's first model from Superintelligence Labs, Muse Spark, drove an 8% jump in the company's stock price after its release, with Zuckerberg calling it the division's “first milestone.”
