Meta named its chief marketing officer Alex Schultz as the company’s first chief data officer, tasking him with overseeing AI analytics across its global operations while keeping leadership of its infrastructure analytics teams, according to Axios. Schultz said his most urgent priority is building a “semantic” layer in Meta’s data warehouse to make sense of data flowing across all its products, work he expects to dominate the next six months. Vice president of consumer marketing and growth Denise Moreno is elevated to CMO, having helped drive Threads to its 500 million user milestone. Both executives report to COO Javier Olivan, with Moreno joining Meta’s leadership team, in a move treating data and analytics as a core executive function rather than a support role.
