Meta has now poached five founding members from Mira Murati’s Thinking Machines Lab as AI talent wars intensify

Joshua Gross, the engineer who built Thinking Machines Lab's flagship product Tinker from scratch, has joined Meta Superintelligence Labs to lead engineering teams, becoming the fifth founding member Meta has hired from the $12B startup. OpenAI has also picked off talent, hiring Thinking Machines Lab's former CTO Barret Zoph and a top cybersecurity employee. Despite the departures, Thinking Machines Lab has grown to roughly 130 staffers, more than quadrupling since its founding last year, and replaced its CTO with Soumith Chintala, the creator of PyTorch.
