Japan antitrust watchdog raids Microsoft over cloud practices

The Japan Fair Trade Commission raided the offices of Microsoft Japan on Wednesday to investigate potential antitrust violations regarding its cloud services. Authorities are probing whether the company imposed unfair licensing conditions that made it difficult or expensive for customers to use Windows software on rival platforms like AWS. The regulator is seeking further clarification from the U.S. parent regarding strategies that allegedly steered users toward its own Azure infrastructure.
