GreyOrange, which sells AI software that coordinates warehouse operations and tracks store stock, acquired Site Bionics, a startup that uses a store’s existing security cameras to build a live digital model of the space, for an undisclosed price. Amazon Go’s former head architect Don Gillett cofounded Site Bionics with Adam Blair, who was the founding CTO of Radar. GreyOrange is pairing the camera tracking with the item-level RFID data in its gStore software so retailers can see both what’s on the shelves and where shoppers and employees walk and linger, with no new hardware. Store teams can also query footage in plain language, asking things like which locations set up a new display correctly, instead of combing through hours of video.
