Products that turn up in both Google’s AI Mode and standard search are priced 21.6% higher in AI Mode on average, according to a Productrise study that put identical shopping queries through both surfaces daily from August 9 to 31. The two prices disagree on 38.1% of matched products, and AI Mode is the costlier side about two-thirds of the time, by a median of 22.2%, while the median gap runs 7.8% when AI Mode comes in cheaper. Matches are uncommon to begin with, since 1.28% of the products ranking in standard search reappear in AI Mode on the same query, and AI Mode returns roughly 3.9 products per search against 27.8 in standard search. It also lists a different lead seller on 49.6% of matched products, so it’s often choosing a different offer rather than reordering the same one.
