Google tests search changes to display rivals and avoid EU fines

Google is preparing to test new search result formats across Europe to give rival vertical search engines more prominence. The tech giant is modifying its display to feature top-ranked competitors by default for lodging and travel queries. The corporation developed the proposals after it faced charges of breaching the Digital Markets Act last year.
