Flipkart promoted Kunal Gupta, head of its quick commerce arm Minutes, from Vice President to Senior Vice President, according to an internal note seen by the Economic Times, as the Walmart-owned company doubles down on instant grocery delivery to compete with dominant players Blinkit, Zepto, and Instamart. Minutes, which launched in August 2024, currently operates 750 to 800 dark stores and has been adding roughly 100 stores per month, with the company expecting to reach 1,200 locations by June and planning to launch a standalone Minutes app before its Big Billion Days sale later this year. The promotion comes as Flipkart prepares for an IPO next year, having completed its reverse flip in March to shift its corporate domicile back to India from Singapore ahead of the listing.
