eBay's eightfold Live growth figure can't be checked against anything, because five of its seven Live markets launched within the past year and three opened two months before the April comparison, according to Liz Morton at Value Added Resource. eBay has never disclosed actual Live GMV, buyer or seller counts, order values, or repeat purchase rates, so eightfold could describe $10 million becoming $80 million or $100 million becoming $800 million, against $22.2 billion in marketplace GMV last quarter. Cut fees and buyer coupons worth up to $50 fund some of that volume, and some may be shifting off ordinary listings rather than adding to them.
