Anthropic asks job candidates how they’d react if the company one day walked away from its AI ambitions over safety and its stock went to zero, according to Axios. Every applicant sits for a culture interview run by an employee nominated for the task, and is also asked to describe an ethical dilemma they’ve faced. A former employee said interviewers work from suggested questions rather than a script, which is why accounts differ, with some candidates recalling an outright crash and others a safety tradeoff that would only dent revenue. One wrote on Blind that they answered honestly that no, they wouldn’t be happy at zero, and that “the interviewer didn’t seem to like that answer.” Two former employees said the question is new, though other Blind posts put it in 2025.
