eBay posted a notice on August 10 telling sellers that USPS had raised Ground Advantage prices on August 8, two days after the new rates hit labels bought through the platform, according to Liz Morton at Value Added Resource. The increase covers 3-5 lb packages going to zones 5 through 8, adding $1 in zone 5 and $2 in zones 6 through 8. eBay closed the post by promising to keep sellers informed as quickly as possible. It’s the latest adjustment to a weight band USPS discounted sharply in June, and sellers who bulked up packages to reach it have since absorbed a $0.10 rise in July on one day’s notice. Because eBay charges final value and ad fees on shipping, every increase works as a fee hike, and it lifts reported GMV without a dollar more of merchandise changing hands.
