eBay has dropped Final Value Fees and Regulatory Operating Fees for private sellers on eBay.fr and eBay.it, according to Liz Morton at Value Added Resource. Sellers keep their full asking price, and eBay has moved the cost onto buyers through a Buyer Protection fee built into the displayed price, starting at €0.10 an item plus 7% of the first €20 and tapering above that. eBay is also moving private sellers onto eBay Balance, where proceeds stay put until spent or withdrawn, and Store owners lose coupons, multi-buy discounts and other promo tools. The company ran the same playbook in Germany in 2023, the UK in 2024, and Australia this year, each time with a buyer fee attached. The model is Vinted’s, and the CMA put it at 50% to 60% of UK C2C apparel GMV last year against eBay’s 10% to 20%.
