eBay beats a shareholder proposal at its annual meeting, but a rejected $125 GameStop bid and stagnant buyer numbers linger

eBay's 2026 annual shareholder meeting produced approvals for its directors, executive pay, and auditor, alongside a rejected shareholder proposal that would have eased the rules for calling special meetings. Support for the measure, from activist John Chevedden, fell to about 42.8% from the 47%-plus it drew in prior years, after eBay reportedly paid proxy firm Innisfree a $25K fee to help defeat it, according to Value Added Resource. CEO Jamie Iannone pitched 2025 as eBay's best year ever, with GMV near $80B and revenue of $11.1B, though Liz Morton notes the year's 1M net new buyers traced to the Tise acquisition rather than organic growth, with active buyers still below 2018 levels. GameStop CEO Ryan Cohen, whose $125-per-share offer in cash and stock eBay rejected last month, has said he is willing to take the bid directly to shareholders.
