Corning strikes a multibillion-dollar deal to supply Amazon with optical fiber for its US AI data centers

Corning has signed a multiyear deal worth billions to supply Amazon with the optical fiber that connects and powers its fast-expanding US AI data centers, sending Corning shares up about 4%. The agreement adds 1,000 jobs at Corning's North Carolina factories and marks its third AI megadeal of the year, after similar agreements with Meta and Nvidia that have helped more than double the 175-year-old glassmaker's stock in 2026. The fiber has become essential infrastructure for AI, linking the racks and chips inside data centers, and the deal also fits the Trump administration's push to onshore more of the AI supply chain.
