Block, Anthropic, and OpenAI launched the Agentic AI Foundation under the Linux Foundation to support open source development of agentic AI systems. The group aims to create shared standards, protocols, and governance for agents that can act autonomously, with early contributions including Block’s goose framework, Anthropic’s Model Context Protocol, and OpenAI’s AGENTS.md. Dozens of major tech companies have joined as members, and the foundation will oversee open governance, sustainability, and project selection as additional tools are proposed. The initiative is intended to provide a neutral home for interoperable agent technologies and to support broad community participation across developers, researchers, and companies.
