Meta pushed back its updated commercial terms and self-service advertising terms to November 20 from October 30, after publishers and advertisers complained to competition regulators in the EU and UK. Those publishers and advertisers argue that the terms, which let Meta crawl the websites linked to business accounts, would give the company unlimited rights to use their content in its AI products, a claim Meta rejects. Meta said the delay gives it more time to explain what is and isn’t changing, and that it will spell out how its crawlers work and confirm that site owners can still block them with robots.txt. The EU’s competition regulator welcomed the postponement and said its talks with Meta over the terms are still going on.
