An Etsy glitch is charging sellers for years-old USPS shipping adjustments, with some accounts hit for thousands of dollars

by | Apr 15, 2026 | E-commerce News

Etsy sellers woke up to unexpected charges tied to USPS shipping label adjustments dating back as far as 2020, with one seller reportedly charged nearly $5,000 across almost 1,400 shipments and another hit with $738 in adjustments covering 54 labels. Etsy acknowledged the issue in its seller forum, calling it “a system error on Etsy's side that has caused incorrect adjustment activity in Payment accounts,” and said its engineering team is working to identify and fix impacted accounts with refunds to follow. Sellers are concerned about what happens if Etsy attempts to charge their credit cards on file before the issue is resolved, and Etsy has not provided a timeline for the fix.
