Amazon adds on-demand short-form news clips to Prime Video, free to all US viewers whether or not they subscribe to Prime

Amazon added on-demand short-form news clips to Prime Video, running them in the Trending Topics and Local News carousels of the app’s News destination on TV and other living-room screens first, with web and mobile to follow. The clips cover local and national stories and sit alongside the news coverage Prime Video already carries from major providers, all of which is free to anyone in the US whether or not they pay for Prime. Amazon wouldn’t say whether the mobile version will be vertical, only that those clips count as short-form on iOS and Android. Peacock added the same kind of clips in March, HBO Max and Netflix followed in July, and Disney+ in August.
