eBay posts a shipping protection economics job as transaction losses climb 55% to $133 million on shipping program claims

eBay is hiring a senior manager to run the strategy and economics of its shipping protections, a job that covers where the coverage expands next and how to keep it affordable, according to Liz Morton at Value Added Resource. The hire would track claims outcomes, carrier performance and loss trends. eBay is covering more lost, damaged and late packages as it takes over shipping itself, through mandatory Simple Delivery for most UK private sellers and a limited US Managed Shipping test. Transaction losses climbed from $86 million in Q2 2025 to $133 million this year, which eBay tied partly to consumer protection losses from those programs, and it hasn’t said whether that cost sits inside the Simple Delivery rates it raised this month.
