Elon Musk renews his attack on Delta for picking Amazon Leo over Starlink, a service that won’t reach its planes until 2028

Elon Musk went after Delta again over its decision to put Amazon Leo on its planes instead of Starlink, replying on X to travelers who said they were booking United for the WiFi that he had warned the airline and “it will get much worse.” Delta CEO Ed Bastian said in May that Leo came in with better bandwidth at a price far below anything Starlink had quoted, and the airline also pointed to a wider Amazon relationship beyond WiFi. The only thing on the record behind Musk’s claim is SpaceX president Gwynne Shotwell telling an earnings call that one unnamed carrier saw passengers book layovers to stay on Starlink flights. Starlink runs more than 10,000 satellites across 43 airline deals, while Leo has under 400 and two carriers signed, and Delta’s service doesn’t start until 2028.
