Meta hired Assaf Keren as chief information security officer, pulling in the Qualtrics security chief who spent most of the previous decade running security at PayPal. Keren starts this week and takes over from Guy Rosen, who stays through a transition of several months before leaving later this year. Rosen arrived at Meta in 2013 when it bought his analytics startup Onavo, ran election integrity work after the 2016 election, and more recently worked on folding AI into internal business operations. Keren put in roughly nine years at PayPal, founded and sold two cybersecurity companies before that, and began his career in Israel’s defense forces. Keren wrote on LinkedIn that his focus will be building security and trust into Meta’s AI systems and the infrastructure underneath them.
