YouTube overtakes Reddit as top social citation source for AI models

by | Jan 27, 2026 | Latest E-commerce News & Updates

YouTube surpasses Reddit as the leading social media reference for large language models, driven by the ability of AI to parse structured video transcripts and captions. Bluefish, an analytics firm, found that YouTube appeared in 16% of AI answers over the past six months compared to 10% for Reddit, while data from Emberos indicates the video platform appears 40% more frequently across major chatbots. The shift highlights a preference for high-density instructional content over fragmented forum threads, which compels brands to rethink their optimization strategies for AI search visibility.
