A WP Engine survey of 214 web agency professionals found that 72% have adjusted their development and design practices to accommodate AI agents alongside human users, with 63% actively investing in AI tools and platforms, as agencies navigate a shift toward what the report calls the “Intelligent Web.” Nearly half of agencies are now designing with equal priority for both human users and AI systems, up from a baseline where 53% still focus primarily on the human experience, and 68% of clients are initiating AI discussions with their agency partners rather than waiting to be approached. The biggest challenge cited is keeping pace with the speed of AI innovation, flagged by 41% of respondents, far outpacing concerns about client demand or lack of in-house expertise.
