Wix CEO Avishai Abrahami emailed all employees to address reports that the company is preparing the largest layoffs in its history, potentially cutting around 1,000 jobs, or 20% of its workforce. Abrahami acknowledged the company is reviewing its structure, priorities, and costs, writing “I won't pretend that we're not looking at potential changes,” but stopped short of confirming the cuts. Much of his message centered on the fact that employees learned of the possible layoffs through the press, with Abrahami saying he was “truly sorry” the news reached the media before management could speak to staff directly. Wix shares have lost nearly 50% of their value since the start of 2026, cutting its market value to roughly $2B from a 2021 peak near $20B. The pressure has mounted despite Wix repositioning around AI through its Base44 vibe-coding platform, which reached a $150M annual recurring revenue rate in May.
