The US Marshals Service sold the Anthropic shares it seized from Caroline Ellison and Nishad Singh sometime in 2025, selling to existing Anthropic investors at an undisclosed price, according to Business Insider. The two former FTX executives had put $50 million into Anthropic’s 2022 Series B and surrendered the stakes under plea deals after testifying against Sam Bankman-Fried. What the government gave up depends on the date, since Anthropic was valued at $61.5 billion in March 2025 and $965 billion by a round this May. Outside analysts put the shares at $250 million to $1.1 billion at sale, against $2.62 billion to $5.03 billion now. No proceeds tied to those shares had reached the FTX bankruptcy estate as of the end of June, and the Justice Department calls the details confidential.
